This is a pretty rare event around these parts. Sure it’s getting to that time of the year since it’s almost November. But it’s just been so long since I’ve seen or heard actual rain. Any of yall in other parts of the country/world surely laugh at this considering it’s barely drizzling. But holy crap RAIN!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Weather called for this rain in the morning (20%+) so I tarped the miata last night and tied down the covers on all my outdoor stuff. Painstaking work but it’s not like I gotta do it all that often. Replacing the top and seals on the miata is on the list but really not a high priority. I’d still probably tarp it anyways since it works far better at keeping the water out.

Anyways, currently looking into how to do a valve job on the miata. Hoping that can resolve my CEL otherwise it’ll be engine out service. Enjoying a cozy indoor Sunday. Here is a lovely sunset from last night:

I do not miss getting into a Miata after a heavy rain

Ehh with proper seals, a newer top, and a glass rear window a soft top is just fine in the rainy/snowy stuff on a Miata. I had a good top on the other Miata when I lived in NJ. The one on this car is hot garbage even though it was replaced relatively recently. Previous owner just chose a shitty top and didnt bother replacing the completely ruined seals. Thankfully it doesnt rain very much here and I have another car to just drive when it does. Hard tops just defeat the purpose of a Miata since I would only ever use it for parking at home. Driving with a top of any sort is pointless no matter the weather.

Getting onto a motorcycle in the same conditions has to be worse lol.

I just did a compression test on my miata and got good numbers, so I’m avoiding an engine out for now. But with the ease of doing clutch, flywheel, rear main seal, oil pan seal, etc, an engine out overhaul does cross my mind every now and then

I'm teasing AiM for never finding a hardtop for his NA.

Reminds me of a friend from California once wanting to run out into a quite severe storm to feel the rain in his face. I told him he'd regret it and fortunately that worked.

Ha it’s bone dry down here (in an undisclosed location). It’s always so bizarre how the weather can vary so quickly in southern California.

But I’m ready for the rain, my car is clean. I hate it when it rains on a dirty car.
